Every business must be insured. A doctor’s office, as a
small business, is likely have several insurance policies to cover
different aspects of the practice. First, the practice will have some
type of insurance policy covering the office, in case of disaster like fire or
flood. Another type of business policy covers the employees in case they get
hurt on the job. This is called workers compensation insurance. Finally, malpractice
insurance covers the doctor’s practice of medicine. For example, malpractice
may come into play when/if a doctor is accused of making a medical treatment mistake.
